Noisy Coworkers - Know How To Handle Them.

by Frank Barnett

No matter where you work you will very likely encounter at least one noisy coworker. The question is, how do you deal with it? And the answer lies in how far you are willing to go. The following are sensible tips that will make it possible to establish peace in the office without becoming the office jerk.

If you really want your noisy coworkers to tone down their noise levels, you need to figure out why and when they are noisy. Noisy coworkers are often clueless about their noise volume or noise habits that are obnoxious to those around them. Others may be more intentional in wanting to annoy or bother people with their noise.

First you will have to confront those that are causing distractions but don't realize that their habits are triggering a negative reaction. These types of people often feel that the noise they are making is far less disturbing than the usual office noise that occurs on a regular basis.

A perfect example of this is the person that will sit at their desk and sniffle all day instead of stepping away and blowing their nose to take care of the issue. These annoying coworkers drive you to the point that you want to throw a tissue box at their head. The better option however is to kindly offer them a tissue or simply mention that their behavior is wearisome.

The people who are looking to be the center of attention are much harder to deal with. Moving up the ladder of success is the goal of the person, so attention is something that are trying to attract.

No ideal tactics exist for handling this sort of person; you will just have to try talking to them. If speaking to them directly does not fix the problem, you should complain to your supervisor. After all, even with you coworker's conduct, you still have to get your work done. Given how much productivity the company is losing because of this worker's conduct, you are unlikely to be the only one concerned about the problem.

Every office, no matter how big or small, has to deal with Noisy Coworkers. What can be done about this? The answer truly rests in what you are prepared to do about it. Here are a few realistic pointers to help you maintain your sanity and keep a sense of calm in your office without you becoming a loser. First you will have to confront those who are causing Office Noise distractions but don't realize that their habits are triggering a negative reaction. The loss in production that the company is facing due to noise may prompt to install Sound Masking devices.
